Through an Automatic Aid agreement Evans & LaSalle firefighters respond to structure fires in the neighboring district. Both Districts benefit from an automatic response of a second or third engine to all structure fires. This allows for a faster response time with more firefighters on-scene quickly. Combined training exercises with firefighters from both Districts ensure that each firefighter is familiar with the personnel, equipment, and procedures from the neighboring district. Working together as a cohesive unit saves time, property, and lives. In early March Evans responded to a structure fire in the LaSalle District. Once on-scene Evans assisted as requested by the LaSalle command officer. The fire was in a wood shed, which was a total loss, but working together crews were able to prevent the fire spreading to other buildings.
